This is such a great initiative! Companies like REDcycle are making it even easier to know how/what to recycle and are making use of our unwanted materials.

Here's the brief:

1. Collect soft plastics instead of throwing them out (we put them into a Coles reusable plastic bag) 2. Take them to a drop off point (Coles or Woolies) 3. TaDah! More plastics saved from landfill. Now here's a bit more info:

What is REDcycle

RED Group is a Melbourne-based recycling organisation who has developed the REDcycle Program; a recovery initiative for post-consumer soft plastic. They've have teamed up with Coles, Woolworths and some of Australia’s most-loved brands to make it easy for you to keep your plastic bags and soft plastic packaging out of landfill.

But what and how do I Recycle & REDcycle?

Check your packaging, the info is right there. It tells you which part can be recycled or REDcycled (and also which still unfortunately need to be thrown out)

There's also a very comprehensive list of things that Can and Can't be REDcycled >>> CLICK HERE My housemate and I have this printed out and stuck on the inside of our pantry door, with our redcycle bag. And whatever can't be REDcycled is often RECYCLED, composted or not purchased haha.

Where does the collected soft plastic end up?

The collected plastic is delivered to Australian manufacturer Replas where it undergoes an incredible transformation. Replas uses the material as the resource to produce a huge range of recycled-plastic products, from fitness circuits to sturdy outdoor furniture, to bollards, signage and more.

So grab yourself a soft plastics bag and start stashing, then next time you go to the supermarket, take it with you and drop it off in the REDcycle bin (often inside the front doors) So easy to save more stuff going to landfill.
